Dorrington Park: final concept and planned construction dates

Brisbane City Council has released the final concept for Dorrington Park’s playground upgrade. Its project page lists construction starting in late 2026 and completion with reopening in mid-2027.
The project is marked planned. Those dates describe Council’s timetable; they do not establish that construction has begun.
What families can expect
Council says the upgrade will improve safety, accessibility and play opportunities within the existing footprint, helping protect mature trees and the park’s leafy character.
What remains conditional
The consultation page says concept features remain subject to detailed design, site planning, environmental considerations and future budget availability. Check the project page for access changes before visiting.
Update note: added Council’s planned late-2026 to mid-2027 timetable and clarified that work is not reported as underway.
