A trip that works at 8am on a weekday may look different on Sunday afternoon. Plan for the day you are actually travelling—and check how you will get home.
Use the destination, not just the suburb
Open the Translink journey planner and enter your starting point and exact destination. Choose the date and either a departure time or an arrival deadline. Translink’s planning help explains the walking-distance and walking-speed settings, stop searches and timetable options.
For a library session, appointment or shift, work backwards from when you need to be at the door. Allow your own margin for finding the entrance, checking in or settling children; a scheduled arrival is not a guarantee.
Check the stop and the walk
You can search nearby stops by address, landmark or stop name. Stops have a six-digit ID that helps identify the right one. Check the map and direction of travel, then look at the walk at each end—not just the time on the bus.
If you use a mobility aid, push a pram or find hills difficult, ask Translink about the journey’s accessibility and the venue about its entrance. This guide does not certify a route as step-free.
Plan the return before leaving
Timetables can differ between weekdays, weekends and public holidays. Run a separate return search for the time your activity finishes. Save the stop details with your booking or event information.
For a first visit to a community group, ask the organiser for the precise meeting point. For a family outing, consider whether the return time leaves room for a snack or a slower walk.
Check again on the day
Review Translink service updates for disruptions. The Translink app is another planning option. We have not published a fixed route number, fare or travel-time promise: the live planner is the place to check your particular trip.
Choose somewhere to go: family activities or community connections.
